Why We Serve Dinner, and Need Your Help
Sponsor a Meal & Support Neurodivergent Friends™ Events
At Neurodivergent Friends™, we believe that food should never be a barrier to participation. Many neurodivergent individuals experience food insecurity or struggle with executive functioning, making it difficult to attend social events. Something as simple as an evening event can completely disrupt a person’s routine, adding layers of stress that make participation feel impossible.
For many neurodivergent individuals and families, dinner is a predictable part of the day, and disrupting that schedule requires extra planning and effort. Executive function challenges make this even harder. Figuring out what to eat, when to eat, and how to adjust for an event can turn a fun opportunity into an overwhelming task. Some may struggle to remember to eat before coming, while others may find a change in mealtime disorienting. For caregivers, planning dinner around an evening event can be just another mental load added to an already full plate.
That is why we provide meals at our Friday night gatherings and special events. By ensuring food is available, we remove a major logistical barrier, allowing attendees to focus on connecting, relaxing, and enjoying the experience rather than worrying about their next meal.
Providing meals also creates a valuable opportunity for parents and caregivers. These events are a time when they can
✔ Run errands or take a break
✔ Enjoy a much-needed date night
✔ Find social and emotional support with other caregivers while their Neurodivergent Friends™ are in a safe and welcoming environment
✔ Receive benefit and resource consultations from Neurodivergent Friends™ while their Neurodivergent Friends™ are enjoying their friends.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward supporting our mission.
How You Can Help
✅ Donate directly through Zeffy to support our meal program
✅ Sponsor a specific meal by checking available dates on MealTrain
✅ Provide in-kind donations such as snacks, drinks, or catered meals.
✅ Ask Restaurants and other Businesses to help us once a year with a meal or item for an event. If we have a large variety of businesses and restaurants who help us just once a year, we would be able to focus more on our mission rather than fundraising for food.
✅ Volunteer to Serve or Cook. We can always use more hands!
Your generosity removes barriers, supports neurodivergent individuals, and provides respite for caregivers who might not otherwise have access to a break or a supportive community.
